UI/UX Designer

About the Role

We're looking for a UI/UX Designer who can make dense financial data feel clear, accessible, and even delightful. IPO research involves a lot of numbers, tables, and data — your job is to design interfaces that help retail investors find the information they need quickly and make confident decisions.

You'll own the design system at CheckIPO, working across web and mobile to ensure visual consistency, usability, and accessibility. You'll conduct user research with our investor community, translate insights into design decisions, and collaborate closely with our Frontend Engineer to bring designs to life with pixel-perfect accuracy.

This is a solo designer role — you'll have full creative ownership. You'll be the design voice on the product team, advocating for users in every decision from feature scoping to visual polish.

Key Responsibilities

Own and evolve CheckIPO's design system — components, tokens, spacing, typography, and color guidelines
Design new features from concept to high-fidelity prototypes in Figma
Conduct user research (interviews, surveys, usability testing) with retail investors to inform design decisions
Redesign complex data tables and dashboards to improve information hierarchy and scannability
Design mobile-first experiences that work seamlessly for users checking IPO data on smartphones
Create dark mode designs and ensure all components work correctly in both light and dark themes
Collaborate with the Frontend Engineer to ensure designs are implemented with high fidelity
Design data visualizations (charts, progress indicators, subscription bars) for financial data

Requirements

Must-Have

3+ years of product design experience for web/mobile applications
Expert proficiency in Figma including components, variables, and prototyping
Strong portfolio demonstrating data-heavy interface design
Deep understanding of responsive web design principles and mobile-first approach
Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and inclusive design practices
Experience conducting user research and incorporating findings into design iterations
Ability to work independently and manage multiple design workstreams simultaneously

Nice-to-Have

Experience designing fintech, trading, or finance applications
Understanding of Indian retail investor behaviour and mental models
Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS to aid designer-developer collaboration
Experience with Lottie animations or micro-interaction design
