Data Analyst

About the Role

We're looking for a Data Analyst who is passionate about financial data to join our Mumbai office. You'll be the engine behind CheckIPO's data-driven features — tracking real-time GMP across grey market participants, processing BSE/NSE subscription data, and building models that help retail investors understand their allotment probability.

You'll work in a fast-paced environment where data accuracy and timeliness are non-negotiable. During active IPO seasons, subscription data needs to be updated every 30 minutes and any errors could mislead investors. You'll build the quality checks and automation that make this possible.

This role is based in Mumbai to maintain proximity to the grey market network, BSE/NSE data sources, and our registrar contacts. Occasional travel to meet data sources and attend industry events is expected.

Key Responsibilities

Collect, validate, and publish real-time IPO subscription data from BSE and NSE official feeds during IPO open days
Maintain a reliable network of grey market contacts to track and verify GMP data across multiple Indian cities
Build and maintain statistical models for allotment probability calculation based on oversubscription ratios and category-wise applications
Analyze historical IPO performance data to identify listing day return patterns and subscription-to-listing correlations
Create automated data pipelines to reduce manual data entry and improve accuracy of the platform's data
Generate weekly and monthly IPO market reports with trends, sector analysis, and investor insights
Support the Content team with data for articles — charts, tables, financial comparisons
Monitor data quality and implement anomaly detection to catch erroneous data before it's published

Requirements

Must-Have

3+ years of data analysis experience, preferably in financial markets
Proficiency in Python (pandas, numpy, matplotlib) or R for data analysis
Experience with SQL and relational databases for data extraction and analysis
Strong understanding of Indian equity markets and IPO process
Ability to work with large, unstructured datasets and extract meaningful insights
High attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
BSc/MSc in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or Computer Science

Nice-to-Have

Familiarity with BSE/NSE data APIs and official exchange data sources
Experience with financial modeling (DCF, comparable company analysis)
Knowledge of grey market mechanics in the Indian IPO ecosystem
Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or Python libraries)
